This is  glossary containing explainations of technical terms.

It is work in progress and will be expanded regularly.

LCP Lower Control Panel
 SAM Signal Acquistion Module.  There are normally front and rear SAMs which control all the electrical funtions such as lights. wipers etc and each end of the vehicle. They reduce wiring requirements, sense faults and operate various circuits.
   
   
 SCN Coding Many of the electronic control units in the vehicles are coded using SCN coding, which means that the diagnostic system loads the configuration information directly from the Mercedes Benz central computer systems and programs it into the car using a very long configuration code. The VeDOK system is used for this.
OCP Overhead Control Panel. The control panel on the car's head-lining which controls the rear-view-mirror (dimming functions) the sun-roof, rain-light sensor and other features.
UCP Upper Control Panel. The switch panel in the car which is often located above the stereo (or just below).
   
 VeDOK System at Mercedes Benz headquarters which holds the configuration information (i.e options, build date etc) for each vehicle.
